Fall weather is unpredictable these days. Benjamin Hollingsworth star of the hit CBS medical drama Code Black shows us how to take advantage of the cooler temperatures in the season’s coolest must-haves: shearling and leather bombers, camel overcoats, denim jackets, cable-knit sweaters, military-inspired trenches, thick wool blazers and more.
Benjamin Hollingsworth transitioned from Demi Moore and David Duchovny’s son in the acclaimed indie lm The Joneses into the role of rugged doctor on the CBS drama series Code Black opposite Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden in 2015. His character, Mario Savetti, is a second year resident working in a Los Angeles emergency room, where code blacks happen more often than any other hospital in the country. His character comes from a tough background, adding a nice tension to the other beginners and seasoned doctors in the show. In season 2 of Code Black, currently airing on CBS, Benjamin’s character gets more than one visit from his father, played by the legendary actor Eric Roberts. While most on the east coast were watching the Cubs win the World Series on November 2nd, Hollingsworth put in his performance of a lifetime in his young career in the episode “Landslide.” Code Black airs every Wednesday at 10 P.M. EST.
We spent the day with Benjamin in Playa Del Rey on location for our ‘homecoming’ shoot with photographer Collin Stark. We talked about life on set and his biggest role yet—being a Dad. “Things on the Code Black set are very realistic, we often have a real life doctor we can turn to for help with any difficult medical procedures while filming. It allows us to feel confident in what we are doing so we can concentrate on the scenes.” he explained. If you are a fan of the show you know that the Dr. Leanne Rorish and Jesse Sallander are played by Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden and Luis Guzmán. The two are often referred to as Momma & Daddy; but it’s not what you think. Luis is Momma and Marcia, Daddy. When we asked Benjamin about the vibe on set, he laughed and said, “Luis is definitely Momma, alright. He’s an incredibly generous actor and person, they both are. I consider them great friends and mentors.”
Benjamin has had an incredible 2016 on and off screen; the highlight of course was the birth of his first son Hemingway Nash Hollingsworth this past July. Though he has the looks, charm and talent of a Hollywood heartthrob, Hollingsworth is a real family man. He openly talked about his annual family boat trips and how much life has changed since he has become a dad. “Even while on set things are different for me now that I am a father, the things I was stressed about before seem so inconsequential now. I am actually able to really relax while shooting. There is a new calmness that comes with being a Dad.”
